There is a general lack of awareness, knowledge and information concerning gender issues and GBV in Azerbaijan. The majority of women as well as men are completely unaware of the rights and freedoms they are entitled to according to a vast number of international and national legal provisions. Taking this into account, one of the main project components is to tackle this problem via raising awareness among public (women, men and youth) on gender issues, human rights and equality that has the potential to empower them to effectively combat gender based violence in the country.
