Combating Gender Based Violence project implemented by the United Nations Population Fund/Azerbaijan Program and funded by the Royal Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Norway and UNFPA represents one of the pilot efforts aimed at creating an enabling environment for reducing gender based violence in the country in order to ensure effective protection and promotion of women’s rights and fundamental freedoms as well as foster gender equality and women’s participation in decision making processes.
The program aims at promoting understanding and respect for women’s rights in Azerbaijan through series of interrelated activities aiming at achieving gender equality via gender sensitive initiatives undertaken in the field of research and data collection, advocacy and awareness-raising, laws and legal reform, governmental action plans, capacity building for prevention of GBV, protection and rehabilitation of GBV victims and inter-country collaboration.
