This component of the project aims at identifying the legal framework available to combat GBV as well as evaluating and addressing the gaps existing in legislation. To achieve this, UNFPA and the State Committee on Family, Women and Children’s Affairs has joined efforts in bringing the national legislation in compliance with the best practices as well as relevant international human rights documents.

The services of the legal consulting company were commissioned in order to analyze existing legislation from a gender and GBV perspective and develop the final version of Domestic Violence Law that is envisioned to support the efforts made by the State Committee on Family, Women and Children’s Affairs and the Milli Mejlis (Parliament) in the development of comprehensive and cohesive law addressing the complexity of domestic violence issues in Azerbaijan.
