  • CGBV Project held documentary festival

    The CGBV project together with UNFPA CO, the XXI Century without VAW project, the State Committee on Family, Women and Children’s Affairs, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the Azerbaijan Cinematography Foundation initiated second series of the documentary contest entitled “Azerbaijani Family: past, present, future” first held in 2009. The contest represents a comprehensive public awareness campaign focusing on promotion of the egalitarian family values and support of the long-time tradition of mutual respect and non-violent methods of conflict resolution in Azerbaijani family environment.

  • Men talking to Men to end GBV in South Caucasus

    The strategies to combat violence against women are doomed to be ineffective unless the men and boys are actively engaged as partners. To start tackling the problem the four day regional training of trainers on Men talking to Men to combat violence against women was organized on April 15-17, 2010 in the frames of the Combating Gender Based Violence in the South Caucasus project.

  • The CGBV Project conducted a session on GBV for journalists in Quba

    The CGBV PCU participated in the workshop organized by the OHCHR for media representatives in Quba on June 15, 2010. The National Project Coordinator conducted a session on “Women’s rights: the obligations of the Azerbaijani government to CEDAW. The role of the media in addressing the GBV violence”. The workshop brought together the representatives of several UN agencies, the representatives of the Human Rights Commissioner (Ombudsman) of Azerbaijan Republic, as well as journalists representing national and local media agencies. The workshop aimed at providing the audience consisting of 15 people with the information on UN human rights system, UN treaty-based mechanisms, major UN treaties, the issues related to human rights and ethics in media, women and child rights and other related topics.
